30 November to 31 December 2017 | Christmas Village in Óbidos
We’re starting with a suggestion not quite in Lisbon, but one that is really worth the 1-hour trip. It’s the Óbidos Vila Natal or Christmas Village if you prefer. Óbidos, a quaint, charming medieval village known for the famous ginginha has in the last few years made its mark when it comes to throwing an epic Christmas fair. Inside the Castle walls, you will find Christmas themed rides, games, slides, an ice-ring, Santa Claus and his elves, delicious food and much more. The Christmas Village is open every day from 11am to 4pm (there might be some exceptions). Tickets can be bought here.
Friday 1 December 2017 | Wonderland Lisboa
Santa Claus is taking over Parque Eduardo VII in Lisbon, with the second edition of Christmas Wonderland. Skate with your kids on the ice rink, ride the Ferris wheel, visit the Santa village and take a selfie by the Christmas tree. Wonderland Lisboa goes until 1st January 2018. The entrance is free. 6 December to 1 January 2017 | Cascais Christmas Village
Visit the unique Christmas Village in Cascais where everyone, including the little ones, can visit Santa’s house, wonder in an Enchanted Forest, see true reindeer, climb into a tree house and even ice skate. Ticket prices and more information here.
1 December to 23 December 2017 | Reino de Natal in Sintra
I visited this park last year and I have to confess, it was my favourite. Not only did it feel magical, the Sintra setting helps, but also because it brought back so many of my childhood memories. The Christmas Kingdom or Reino de Natal in Portuguese really is a must, even if you don’t have children. Parque da Liberdade is the set of this enchanted village, inhabited by fairies, elves, snowmen, reindeers and, of course, Father Christmas who has his own house at the end of one of many paths you will walk. There’s also a Post Office from where children can write a letter to Santa, there will also be theatre plays, workshops, concerts and fun sports challenges. Entrance is free. Friday 1 December 2017 | Christmas tree inauguration in Sintra
Sing-a-long to the Christmas tunes of the Lisbon Youth Choir as they gather at the steps of Sintra Palace celebrating the inauguration of the Christmas Tree lightening. “Last Christmas”, “Santa Claus is coming to town” and even “Jingle Bells” are just some of the songs they will be singing. The event starts at 6pm.

Sunday 10 December 2017 | Alice in Wonderland – The Musical
Musical Alice in Wonderland: The forest is disappearing, the queen of hearts has forbidden laughter. It’s all going downhill if not for Alice, her grandma and the help of some friends who will have to go on crazy adventures to solve the mystery and return laughter to Wonderland. Sunday 17 December 2017 | Concerts for Babies
Listen to lullabies: David Ramy lives in Portugal but still carries the Cuban rhythms from his hometown with him. He will perform songs from his homeland at this Christmas concert for babies. This concert is for babies from 3 months to 3 years old. The concert happens on 17th December and repeats at 10h00 – 11h30 – 15.30. Price starts at €12.50. Saturday 23 December 2017 | Pixar in Concert
Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Cars, Inside out, the list of animation movie hits done by Pixar goes on. And the soundtrack is part of the magic why these movies speak so much to our heart. Lisbon Film Orchestra, is bringing some of the best cartoon tunes to life on 23rd December in Campo Pequeno. Several dates in December 2017 | Larasati or songs for making stars fall asleep
Canções de Adormecer Estrelas is an interactive musical show for babies with songs from Indonesia, England and Portugal all composed with the same purpose: make children fall asleep. Voice and piano accompanied by an extraordinary percussion ensemble orchestra, made of metalophones, xylophones, gongs and drums. The show is for ages 0-5 years old, the duration is 30 minutes and the price is €3,50 on weekdays, €5 on weekends. Details here.
